Wow!!! Words cannot express the thankfulness that over flows our hearts from the donations and bids given on the blog auction that was conducted by our sweet friends the Browning family. After shipping all of the items, it looks like about $2400 was raised to help us with our UGANDA in country fees.
I would like to explain these fees to you. First of all I would really like to express how thankful I am that we found our agency Adoption-Link. They are Christian based, ethically sound and are not in this business to make any money.
If we were living in Uganda, we would have to pay $3500 to the courts for each child we would adopt. So...guess what our court and legal fees are for receiving legal guardianship of the children in Uganda....$3500 for as many children as we want to adopt on a single trip! This fee also includes the medical exams, preparation for visas etc. WE will also pay $500 for 1 or $1500 for 2 children to be matched to us by the lawyer. Is there is a third sibling, the agency is hoping to waive any other fees for us. This fee basically covers her time and resources for making sure there is death certificates for parents and that the children's medical histories match our !600A and home study information so that we do not have problems when we come back stateside. We will also have to pay some foster care fees not to exceed three months or $1500. Lastly there are about $500 in other document and court fees for birth certificates, passports, death certificate for parents, IOM medicals, and possibly refiling in the child's birth region. All in all it looks like about $4800 for one child and $5800 for two children!!! I am elated that this fundraiser, raised nearly half of what we will need upon the official acceptance of referrals.
SO where are we in the process???
WE have submitted our I600A to Rome. It will be complete as soon as the agency sends our completed home study to Rome as well.
We are also in the process of waiting on documents to be apostilled and returned to our agency. In fact, as of last Friday afternoon, all documents have left our hand for this process!!! So we are hopeful our dossier will be complete by the end of April!
Thank you again to all of the loving donations and winning bids for items!!! We are overwhelmed with thankfulness and excitement!!!
I just finished catching up on your posts, and I am very excited to see how the Lord has been working in your lives and how everything is coming together! I miss seeing you guys, and I don't have any kids to play with at the church here. Hopefully we will get to see you someday soon. Tell Adah I said hello please =) ~Matt
